Asphalt Shingles– Asphalt shingles are the most common shingle used on a home. They are also the most inexpensive as well. Due to the nature, the shingles are not as durable as metal panels or tile roofing and overall, replaced more often. However, there are different asphalt shingle designs that impact the lifetime of your roof.

Architectural/ Dimensional lifespan is between 24 to 30 years.
Metal Roofing– Metal paneling is a good durable option for roofing. This is most commonly found on commercial buildings due to its longevity and sleekness. It is more expensive upfront but makes up for it by having a longer lifetime warranty.
Metal Panel Lifespan is between 30 to 50 years
Flat Roofing– EDPM, PVC and Torchdown are also commonly used on commercial buildings. They are only used on roofs with extremely low pitches. Flat roofing membrane materials do not last quite as long as other roofing options, however, with flat roofs this is your only option.
Flat roofing membrane lifespan – 15 to 30 years
Tile– Tile roofing while expensive, has the longest lifetime out of the roofing options. Tile is also one of the most expensive roofing choices. However, tile roofing is not the best option in all climates, especially climates with extreme winters.
Tile roofing lifespan is 50 years+
